Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an author and philanthropist as well as a television host and the owner of the independent free online news publication The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece Arianna Huffington emigrated to England with her family when she was age 16. At Cambridge University she earned a MA Degree in Economics. The well-known debating club The Cambridge Union was her first president and she took it when she was 21. Then she became a syndicated conservative writer following graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a few years later, she developed an online platform to voice opinions that offered criticisms on politics. It was her celebrity that has led to the attraction of many prominent contributors to share their views on current events, politics and culture. Arianna gained fame after she decided in 2003 to stand as an independent Candidate in the California Recall Election to replace the former governor Davis. In addition to this she was the leader of the Detroit Project for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. In 2009, she was ranked by Forbes as one of the top women in the media, achieving 12th place on the list and in the same year the Guardian named her to the top 100 of media lists. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. Then she was appointed the head of AOL's media group. It was comprised of several AOL owned properties like Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli is the daughter of Konstantinos Stasinopoulos as well as Elli the other, both of whom are management consultants and journalists. While she was close with father, her relationship with her mother shaped the rest of her life. In her earliest years she displayed leadership qualities which are still widely admired. Her move to England came at 16 to continue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she joined the college debating group Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. She was a journalist, a TV host and a columnist after her graduation. Her appearance in Face the music with Bernard Levin was a notable one. She started writing books with his guidance for editing.
