Lucy Liu (born Lucy Liu) is an American actor, voice actress Director Producer and vocalist. An intelligent and attractive actress she serves as an inspirational model for many Asian actors looking to make it big in Hollywood. Through a succession of appearances in various popular television series she achieved fame as she was a part of the ensemble of the legal comedy series Ally McBeal where she played the sly Ling Woo. The new fame she gained was transferred to roles on the big screen in Shanghai Noon, Charlie's Angels as well as other films. The actress then gave an outstanding performance as Japanese criminal lord O'RenIshii as part of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. In the meantime, she also played leading roles in several film that did not make the top of the charts, like Rise: Blood Hunter. Then she began voicing famous characters in animated films, such including Kung Fu Panda and Tinker Bell. Mia Mason's role was in Cashmere Mafia, a small screen feature, failed to result in any positive results. A recurring role in the critically acclaimed police drama Southland helped re-establish herself as a prominent actress. Liu is careful when choosing roles in order so that she doesn't get stereotyped in the industry which is extremely competitive. Even though she's accepted her roots she has not allowed it to limit her ability to express herself as an artist.
